With the bits and pieces of seashells picked up from the beach by the Mediterranean Sea at Antalya Turkey, I created a birthday greeting for Cindy on a canvas board using mixed media.
2 coats of gesso is applied onto the canvas to even out the surface. When the gesso is dried, glimmer mist is sprayed followed by rag & roll technique with acrylic paint to create the blue sea. For the textural beach effect, I mixed several mediums and paste such as natural sand, stucco, glass bead gel with added original seashells.
The sentiments on the top is printed with mirror image and transferred using gel medium.
It was meaningful indeed to create this art piece which also gives dimension and watching the image undergo a metamorphosis is really exciting.
