This piece of impasto painting is my first attempt. I used gloss gel medium mixed with acrylic paint to create this sculptural effect and the rough surface texture gives a fascinating appearance.
With the help of the palette knife, the mixture were added onto the canvas to create a thick glaze. The gloss medium mixed well with the acrylic paint and it reflects light giving brightness while respecting the characteristics of the paint.
It became noticeable to me that a glossy finish will perk up the colours and give the photograph a glossy finish as well.
